Social life in Copenhagen

Join a course in a Danish “kolonihavehus” with an optional dinner afterwards.

Building a social network in Denmark can be hard, and Danish colleagues seem to disappear into the private sphere after work!

However, despite of that – or perhaps actually because of it – Denmark is the land of associations, sport clubs and other after-work activities. There are a lot of things to do, both in and beyond Copenhagen, and many activities are available for non-Danish speakers as well.

This session will cover what the Danish social life is like in Copenhagen. How do the Danes structure their social life? What activities are popular among expats? How does one meet Danes outside the workplace? What cultural codes should one be aware of?

To create the right after-work atmosphere, this meeting will take place at a Danish “kolonihave” (centrally located summer garden), where you will see a very different aspect of Danish social life, and have the opportunity to BBQ afterwards.

Practical details

May 28 from 17-19 (5 – 7 p.m.).

Target Group: Expats in Copenhagen who would like to know more about social life in the city and Danish social behavior.

Address: Hedegaardsvej 73 – on Amager, next to Femøren metro station, which is 12 minutes with the metro from Nørreport. Follow the metro-wall north 100 meters and enter through the gate “Haveforeningen Engdraget” (call 2711 2111 if you get lost).  See map here.

There is an optional BBQ afterwards (bring your own food for the grill – or buy a pizza nearby).

Price: This session is offered for free to promote the work of Work & Life Denmark. A donation of 50 kr. to cover expenses will be welcomed.
