Canal of Copenhagen

On this tour we will explore the most significant parts of inner Copenhagen. We will mostly be in the medieval part of town – and see a few things on the outside such as Amalienborg where the queen lives, the Marble church and the iconic Nyhavn (New Harbour).

We will explore the origins of Copenhagen, the era of the powerful kings, the reformation, the birth of democracy and not least the modern life as it takes place in this old city, be it architectural high-lights or the biking culture.

Itenary

We wil custom design the walk to fit your needs (including need for a café stop if you like), but below are the things, I would recommend us to see:

Christiansborg – the Danish parliament and birthplace of Copenhagen
Nyhavn – ‘New Harbour’, the 400 year idyllic canal with its colorful houses and lively scene
Amalienborg – the Queen’s castle
Marble Church
Copenhagen Harbour with views to the Opera, the naval area, etc.
Kongens Nytorv – ‘King’s new square’ with the finest 18C buildings in Copenhagen
Strøget – at the outset in 1962 the longest pedestrian walk in the world, and now the busy artery of Copenhagen
Church of our Lady – Copenhagen’s most important church and the birth of Lutheran reformation in Denmark
Gammeltorv/Nytorv – ‘Old square/New square’ – the heart of medieval Copenhagen
Round Tower – The 400 year old astronomical observatory (from the outside).
